As a DP he had fantastic tour stories of working with notable artists like Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, Sting and Florence and the Machine. My parting comment was if you ever get down to Australia on a tour I\u2019d love to see your workflow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u00a0Jump to late 2018 and Daniel reached out and said he would be shooting the Florence and the Machine Brisbane gig at my favourite venue the Riverstage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWould you like a backstage pass?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17766 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-3-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-3-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-3.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u00a0Daniel first got the call from Flo and the Machine a couple of years ago after they loved his live concert work with Pearl Jam. The filmic Pearl Jam look was a collaboration with directors Mark Haney and Blue Leach alongside Lighting Designer Rob Sinclair.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u00a0They wanted to get away from the video feel of many concert big screens, by being creative with the look and the live switching of the images.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17769 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-6-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-6-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-6-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-6-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-6.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Daniel has his own camera profiles that he loads to every camera on tour. This combined with him live grading on the fly all cameras backstage, gives the footage a more 25p non clipped filmic feel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u00a0The cameras were four manned Sony HXC-100\u2019s and 2 \u201crobotic\u201d PTZ Panasonic AW-HE130\u2019s controlled with a Panasonic RP-50 controller. It was centered around a 2-ME Sony MVS-3000 vision switcher. The pictures were sent to a single 10m by 10m projector just to the left of the main stage.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17767 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-4-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-4-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-4.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was there on the first of 2 nights so it was Daniel\u2019s first chance to see the projector. During the band\u2019s rehearsal it looked cooler than the grading Sony monitor and to our eyes looking at the front of the stage. Daniel could obviously adjust the grade to compensate for the color temperature difference of the projector, but that would then offset the color temperature being recorded, so wasn\u2019t an option. We were also battling a setting sun so it was an interesting challenge. During the support act we managed to tweek the projector closer to Daniel\u2019s OLED in the control room.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17770 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-7-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-7-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-7-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-7-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/icolorist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2019_FLO-7.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">During the main concert I spent time in the control room watching the amazing live color correction and camera switching from both Daniel and director Corby Anderson.
